If you're exploring Kyoto and enjoy a slower pace, check out this lovely spot where Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art, Kyoto City Library, and Heian Shrine all sit within the same area. There's even a large open lawn space nearby (see photo 5) — perfect for a relaxing afternoon.
🖼️ About the Museum
Entry to the museum itself is free, but you’ll need to buy separate tickets for any special exhibitions.
If you're lucky and catch an exhibit you love, the ticket usually costs under ¥1,000, and you can admire the artwork up close — well worth it!
📷 A Few Things to Note:
No selfie sticks allowed inside the museum.
Most artwork cannot be photographed. Pieces that are OK to shoot will have clear signage (see photo 6).
No Chinese guides are typically available.
Benches are placed throughout the exhibit area — perfect for resting and taking it slow.
☕ Bonus: There’s a café inside the museum — ideal for a chill coffee break in between exploring art.
