[Kyoto🇯🇵] The harmony of architecture and history at the Kyocera Museum of Art

The newly reborn Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art (formerly the Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art) has become a much more attractive tourist destination, and is a spot that reconnects Kyoto culture with modernity☝🏻⭐️

🏛 Harmony of architecture and history

•While retaining the stately exterior of the Imperial Crown Style from 1933, a transparent modern facade called "glass ribbon" has been introduced on the first basement floor. In addition, the new entrance and central hall that lead down to the semi-basement have a 16m high ceiling for a sense of openness.

•A beautiful fusion of tradition and modernity, it won the Kyoto Architecture Award Grand Prix.

🎨 Diverse exhibition space

•In the collection room with over 4,000 pieces, masterpieces by Kyoto art circles such as Takeuchi Seiho and Uemura Shōen are exhibited according to the season.

•The new building "Higashiyama Cube" will be a hub for contemporary visual culture, including fashion, photography, and manga.
•You can encounter works of up-and-coming artists for free at the underground triangular space "The Triangle".

🌿 Relaxing free area & cafe

•Plenty of rest spots, including the rooftop terrace and the Japanese garden in the back (designed by Ogawa Jihei).

•The cafe "ENFUSE", which is conscious of its connection with the local community, offers light meals and picnic sets using Kyoto ingredients.

•The shop "ART LAB KYOTO" offers souvenirs, books, and original goods with traditional and modern designs.

📍 Convenient location near the cultural area

You can enjoy half to full day sightseeing in the area, including Okazaki Park, Heian Shrine, the National Museum of Modern Art, and the zoo. The spectacular approach overlooking the large torii gate of Heian Shrine is also attractive☝🏻⭐️
