Huihang Ancient Road
The Huihang Ancient Trail, China's third most famous ancient trail, spans 25 kilometers. It served as a vital link between Huizhou and Hangzhou in ancient times and is now a haven for beginner hikers. This corridor boasts spectacular natural scenery and a rich cultural heritage. Nearby attractions include the Zhanshan Grand Canyon, the Hu Clan Ancestral Hall, the Qingliangfeng National Nature Reserve, and the First Pass of Jiangnan.
The best time to hike the ancient trail is late March, when the mountains are covered with rhododendrons in full bloom, which is very beautiful.
Longchuan Scenic Area
Longchuan, also known as Kengkou, is an ancient Huizhou village located approximately 10 kilometers from Jixi County. Its unique geographical location and rich historical and cultural heritage have shaped its natural and cultural landscapes, and it is now a designated Anhui Provincial Historical and Cultural Protection Area. Longchuan boasts not only a rich history but also breathtaking scenery, surrounded by mountains and water. The village's topography resembles a ship docked at sea, with Longxu Mountain towering to the east, nestled against the Dengyuan River, the Longchuan River converging to the south, Fengguan Peak nestled to the west, and towering mountains to the north, creating a unique and picturesque landscape.
Longchuan Hu Clan Ancestral Hall
The Longchuan Hu Clan Ancestral Hall is located in Kengkou (Longchuan) Village, Yingzhou Township, Jixi County. Jixi, once part of the Huizhou region, was a place of great literary prosperity, and ancestral halls are common. The Longchuan Hu Clan Ancestral Hall was built in 1547 (the 25th year of the Jiaqing reign of the Ming Dynasty) and renovated in 1898 (the 4th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty). Facing south, the hall features three front and back courtyards, covering a total area of 1,271 square meters. Its majestic setting, framed by mountains and water, exudes a sense of grandeur. The hall boasts exquisite decorations, particularly the well-preserved wood carvings, earning it the title of "Treasure House of Huizhou Woodcarving Art."
