The Kyoto City Kyocera Museum of Art (Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art), which reopened in March 2020, is one of the leading public art museums in the Kansai region, located near Heian Shrine and the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto. It opened in 1933, and took five years to build to commemorate the enthronement ceremony of Emperor Showa. The museum has been beautifully renovated while still retaining its original architecture, and just entering the building will lift your spirits. There are plenty of things to see, including the much talked about "Friday Roadshow and Ghibli Exhibition" and Takashi Murakami's "Mononoke Kyoto."
