The Heian Shrine greeted me with its giant vermilion torii gate, one of the largest in Japan. The shrine grounds are vast, with the main hall standing proudly against the backdrop of Kyoto’s sky. But what enchanted me most were the gardens — expansive, tranquil, and full of seasonal beauty. I strolled past ponds with stepping stones, arched bridges, and blooming irises. In spring, the cherry blossoms here create a dreamy pink canopy. Heian Shrine feels both grand and welcoming, blending Shinto tradition with a deep appreciation of nature’s cycles. #mytraveldiary
