Kyoto | Heian Shrine Garden, a place that feels like stepping into Monet's garden.

A magical realm reminiscent of Monet's paintings
Irises blooming by the pond and water lilies floating gracefully
It exudes an enchanting European atmosphere
The garden truly offers delightful surprises

The garden is divided into four sections: South, West, Central, and East.
- South Garden: A peaceful haven adorned with weeping cherry blossoms.
- West Garden: White Tiger Pond surrounded by irises and water lilies.
- Central Garden: Azure Dragon Pond, Lying Dragon Bridge, and Japanese irises.
- East Garden: Taihei Pavilion Bridge over Phoenix Pond.

Perhaps due to the shrine's renovation
Or maybe because I arrived too early
The vast garden was almost empty
The entrance fee is a modest 600 yen

Kyoto boasts numerous Japanese-style gardens, but few match the grand scale of Heian Shrine Garden. Its expansive layout creates a majestic scenery, far beyond the charm of smaller, more intimate gardens.

Even in summer, the irises and water lilies remain captivating, with the fresh greenery bringing a sense of tranquility. And of course, the autumn foliage and spring cherry blossoms are equally breathtaking.
