🏯 Kyoto Nijo Castle
Kyoto Nijo Castle, located in the center of Kyoto city, was built by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1603 as the shogun's palace and a symbol of the power of the Edo shogunate. The entire castle is known for its combination of splendor and solemnity and is now listed as a World Cultural Heritage site.
The Ninomaru Palace inside the castle is well preserved, with walls adorned with magnificent Kano school paintings. The floors emit a "chirping" sound when walked upon, known as the "nightingale floors," said to prevent assassins from sneaking in. The garden features a pond-strolling style design, with scenery changing through the seasons—cherry blossoms in spring, red maples in autumn, and snowy views in winter, each a living painting.
Today, Nijo Castle is not only a witness to history but also one of Kyoto's most popular cultural landmarks. During nighttime illuminations or flower season events, the interplay of lights and ancient architecture creates an especially romantic atmosphere.
🚕 It is recommended to charter a car for 3 to 5 people for a more relaxed and flexible trip; if you need a customized itinerary, feel free to us "Wa no Tabi Travel Agency" and start a spontaneous Kyoto journey together! 🇯🇵✨
