Nijo Castle & Kyoto City Culture/Gourmet Course
After visiting Nijo Castle, this course combines Kyoto's bustling Shijo Kawaramachi and Nishiki Market, Kyoto's "Kitchen," to experience both traditional and modern Kyoto culture.
• Morning (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM): Visit Nijo Castle
• Experience the grandeur and sophistication of Nijo Castle, focusing on the Ninomaru Palace and gardens.
• Lunch/Transfer (12:00 PM - 1:30 PM): Transfer to Nishiki Market and have lunch
• Take the Tozai Subway Line to Karasuma Oike Station or Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae Station, then transfer to Shijo Station or Karasuma Station, near Nishiki Market. • Explore Nishiki Market (錦市場) and sample a variety of Kyoto pickles, seafood, and street food.
• Afternoon (1:30 PM - 4:30 PM): Stroll through the downtown area.
• Visit Nishiki Tenmangu Shrine (錦天満宮), a unique shrine nestled in the heart of the downtown area. Note the distinctive appearance of a torii gate embedded in a shop building.
• Stroll through Pontocho (先斗町) or Kiyamachi-dori (木屋町通) to enjoy traditional teahouses, izakayas, and the Kamogawa Riverside scenery.
