The area around the station has developed into a major commercial hub, with hotels, shopping centers, and restaurants scattered throughout. There are also several attractions worth visiting in the vicinity.
The Kyoto Central Post Office is located to the left of the front exit of Kyoto Station! It's a very large and prominent building! Here, you can find Kyoto-themed postcards, which make for a fun souvenir to send back home immediately. Additionally, the selection of stationery is impressive. If you're a fan of baseball star Shohei Ohtani, you can also find memorabilia of him here.
Kyoto Tower stands in front of Kyoto Station. From the observation deck inside the tower, you can enjoy views of Kyoto's streets and nightscapes, as well as iconic national treasures and World Heritage sites. The tower offers a panoramic view of Kyoto's seasonal beauty and the changing scenery from dawn to dusk. Moreover, it features facilities for dining, shopping, and experiencing Kyoto's culture.
The greatest charm of Kyoto Tower lies in its 360-degree observation deck, where you can take in the unique views of historical buildings designated as World Heritage sites and national treasures, a perspective only Kyoto Tower can offer. As night falls, you can also admire the dazzling Kyoto nightscape, enjoying a romantic atmosphere distinct from the daytime.
