Someone once asked me what heaven looks like.
I think it must resemble Kula Kangri.
Snow-capped peaks towering at 7,500 meters are within reach.
Sacred lakes, like scattered turquoise gems, lie at your feet.
Every step you take is surrounded by breathtaking 360° views.
The wind, clouds, lakes, and mountains here narrate the ultimate romance of Tibet. 💙
Location: Kula Kangri Sacred Mountain, Shannan, Tibet
📌 Trek Difficulty: 🌟🌟🌟 (Beginner-friendly high-altitude trek, suitable for novices but requires caution)
🕒 Best Seasons: May-June / September-December
🎫 Entry: Border permit required
Snow Mountain Feast: The centerpiece is the 7,538-meter-high Kula Kangri snow mountain, a massive range standing alongside six other peaks over 7,000 meters, exuding grandeur.
Sacred Lakes: At the foot of the snow mountains lie several jade-like lakes, the most famous being Baimalin Lake, Zhegong Lake, and Jiejiu Lake. The colors of the lakes change with light and seasons, creating a photographer's paradise.
Accessible Trek: The starting point of the trek is at an altitude of about 4,500 meters, with the route ranging between 4,500-5,000 meters. Despite the high altitude, the trail is clear, with gentle slopes, requiring no heavy gear or technical equipment—ideal for beginners.
Peaceful Beauty: Compared to the Everest East Slope or the Mount Kailash pilgrimage circuit, this area sees fewer visitors, offering a quieter and more serene experience of stunning landscapes.
Key Tips:
Border Permit! Obtain it at your place of residence or in Lhasa, specifying "Shannan Region."
Altitude Sickness! Acclimate well in Lhasa and move slowly.
Gear! Essentials include a windbreaker, trekking shoes, hiking poles, sunscreen, a thermos, and a power bank.
📸 Photography Spots: Baimalin Lake's tail, Zhegong Lake's viewing pass, and Jiejiu Lake's shores—every shot is wallpaper-worthy!
