Grand Lapa Macau
Macau has only a handful of historic classic hotels, and this is one of them. Located in the heart of Macau Peninsula on Avenida da Amizade, Grand Lapa Macau first opened in 1984 as Macau's first foreign-funded hotel, originally named Hotel Oriental Macau. It was later renamed Mandarin Oriental Macau and then Grand Lapa Hotel. After a renovation in 2020, it was officially rebranded as Grand Lapa Macau, now serving as the flagship property of the brand.
The hotel's English name "Grand Lapa" draws inspiration from Lisbon's famous upscale neighborhood, Lapa. In the center of the lobby, a replica of the renowned artwork "Window of Tomar" is displayed above the staircase. On the second floor, the bar serves delicious tom yum-flavored nuts that are a must-try, and next door is the highly acclaimed Chinese restaurant Kam Lai Heen. By the hotel pool, there's also an excellent Thai restaurant, Tamarind Thai Restaurant.
The renovated guest rooms blend elegant tones with stylish furnishings, featuring handcrafted Portuguese blue-and-white ceramic art behind the beds, created by renowned Macanese-Portuguese artist Carlos Marreiros. The standalone wellness center boasts an outdoor pool surrounded by gardens, and the well-maintained gym with spotless mirrors makes evening workouts exceptionally comfortable.
