Beautiful autumn leaves near Osaka (limited time only)

Katsuo-dera Temple, founded in 727 AD, was originally named "Miroku-ji Temple." Later, after a successful prayer for Emperor Seiwa during the Heian Period, it was given the name "Katsuo-ji Temple." It was later renamed "Katsuo-dera Temple," symbolizing self-conquest and challenges. Red daruma dolls are scattered throughout the temple grounds, symbolizing perseverance and attracting many visitors seeking success in exams, careers, or competitions. The autumn foliage is particularly spectacular, complemented by the daruma dolls and the ancient temple architecture, making it a popular spot for autumn viewing in Osaka.

1. Victory Daruma Offering Stand: Thousands of daruma dolls arranged on a wooden stand, set against the backdrop of the autumn leaves, exude positive energy and are a must-see Instagram photo opportunity. Visitors can purchase a daruma doll, write down their wish, and draw on its right eye. Once their wish is fulfilled, they can draw on their left eye and return it.

2. Purification Bridge and Sanmon Gate: The vermillion Sanmon Gate (rebuilt by Toyotomi Hideyori in 1603) and Purification Bridge, combined with the autumn leaves, create a picturesque and photogenic backdrop.

3. Main Hall and the Apocalypse Bell: Enshrined here is the Eleven-Headed Thousand-Armed Kannon, where chanting continues. Ringing the bell dispels bad luck. Autumn leaves surround the main hall, adding to the Zen atmosphere.

4. Daruma Postcards: Blank postcards are provided upon entry. Stamps can be collected at six stamping stations throughout the temple, creating a colorful Daruma design. This truly memorable commemoration.

5. Autumn Leaf Tunnel: Autumn leaves crisscross the approach to the temple, forming a tunnel of vibrant maple leaves. The colors reach their peak in late November, making it a perfect spot for strolling and taking photos.

Reminder: Bus schedules vary on weekdays and holidays, so it's recommended to check the Hankyu Bus website or Google Maps for timetables in advance. The mountainous roads are narrow, and standing is not available on the buses. Please queue to secure a seat.
