Middle East Trip 151
2023.11.19 17:00 Oman time, the last itinerary of the Middle East Exploration Team in Oman was to visit the Alam Palace and the Twin Forts. Tour guide Wan Qiang introduced that Alham Palace (meaning "Palace of the Flag" in Arabic) is a royal palace in the old city of Muscat, the capital of Oman, and is one of the six royal palaces of the Sultan of Oman. The palace is currently closed to the public and visitors can only take photos at the entrance. One of the twin forts, Al Jalali Castle, is located on the top of the East Rock, overlooking the ancient Muscat Harbour and adjacent to the magnificent Alam Palace. Another Jerali castle was fortified with two tall towers connected by a long wall equipped with built-in breaches for firing cannons. The castle also has roadblocks, cannons and reservoirs for storing rainwater. The castle is completely fenced off and difficult to access by land, except for a small bridge and stairs near the tower.
