The Nagaoka Festival Fireworks Display, one of Japan's three major fireworks festivals, is held annually on August 2nd and 3rd in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture.

For two days, spectacular fireworks, filled with prayers for "commemoration," "reconstruction," and "peace," are launched over the Shinano River riverbed. The highlight is the staggering scale of the display, including the approximately 650-meter diameter three-foot fireworks and the Phoenix fireworks over 2 kilometers in length.

Paid viewing seats are highly sought after every year, and with many repeat visitors from far and wide, securing a hotel and transportation is key!
