The stunning scenery of Naha that you cannot miss when you come to Okinawa: the blue sea and sandy beach, the blue sky and white clouds, and the #Naminouegu Shrine on the cliff. #Nanoue-gu, revered as the first of the Eight Shrines in Okinawa and the first shrine in the Ryukyu Kingdom, is located next to #Nanoue-gu Beach. As you go up the steps from the main hall entrance, you can feel the terrain gradually rising. When you reach the shrine, you will feel like you are on a cliff, which is a very strange feeling.
Naminoue Shrine is a place of local faith in Okinawa and a holy place where people pray to the paradise. Ships entering and leaving Naha Port, which is a base for trade with various countries, would look out at Naminoue Shrine and its temple enshrined on the high cliffs to pray for safe navigation and express gratitude. They are regarded as the patron saint of Okinawa and are believed to be.
The best angle to shoot the Naminoue Shrine is to go around to the harbor access at the back, looking down from a high vantage point so that you can capture the Zankai Shrine and the blue sea and sky in the same frame. What a beautiful summer painting!
After taking photos, don’t forget to go to Naminoue Beach to play in the water. The cool sea water is very refreshing. If you are lucky, you may even see a giant cruise ship docked at the port!
