Ryukyu Memories: The Red Walls of Shuri Castle in the Afternoon

Shuri Castle is a must-visit historical attraction in Okinawa, and although the main hall was severely damaged by the 2019 fire, the environment is still beautiful! Climbing the city site overlooks the city of Naha, the red-tiled stone walls contrast sharply with the green trees and blue sky, full of the ancient atmosphere of the Ryukyu Kingdom. The restoration is now underway, with observation decks and display panels set up on site, allowing you to see up close how craftsmen used traditional techniques to rebuild wooden structures, restore lacquerware, and restore the former appearance with AR images. Although you can't visit the complete palace, but instead have more of the novelty of witnessing 'rebirth', it is recommended to explore together with the surrounding garden of Yubiya Takego Shimen ~
(Addition: Some areas of the park are open free of charge, while visiting the restoration progress is a paid area)
