In the Aikura village, there are 20 houses with various constructions from the 17th century to the first half of the 20th century. There is also a Gassho-zukuri inn, where you can get in touch with traditional culture with the people who live there. On the other hand, in addition to 9 houses, buildings are scattered in the Suganuma village, which is separated by the river, as well as buildings such as earthen warehouses and water mills. In the past, there was no bridge, and it was not possible to cross to the other side of the river without using "basket crossing", so there is an unexplored atmosphere.
In addition to folk centres and experience centres that convey the life and history of Gokayama, folk art shops and restaurants where you can taste local cuisine are scattered in each village. In the Kaminashi village, there is a facility where you can enjoy the folk song "Kokiriko" handed down here. In addition, in the Aikura and Suganuma villages, which are World Heritage Sites, lights up are carried out from around sunset on a limited basis throughout the four seasons, and the entire settlement area is fantastic. You can enjoy a scene that is different from the day.
