Kagawa Prefecture, Naoshima Day Trip Model Plan (Based on Real Experiences)

Take the first ferry from Takamatsu Port to Naoshima in the morning!

Takamatsu Port is conveniently located within walking distance from Takamatsu Station✨

Here is a route that allows you to fully enjoy art and nature even on a day trip

① Art Museum Area → ② Honmura Area → ③ Miyanoura Port Area

Finally, if you go around Miyanoura Port, you can enjoy sightseeing while watching the ferry times. There are many cafes around the port, so it's perfect for adjusting your schedule.

[Recommended spots and points]

● Chichu Art Museum (designed by Tadao Ando)

An underground art museum designed by world-renowned architect Tadao Ando.

Works by Monet, James Turrell, Walter de Maria, and others are exhibited in natural light.

*It's very popular, so **advance reservations are required! **This time, the tickets were sold out and I couldn't get in...

● Yayoi Kusama's "Pumpkin (Red and Yellow Pumpkin)"
This is the symbol of Naoshima! The red and yellow pumpkin object standing on the seaside is also very popular as a photogenic spot.

●Municipal bus (100 yen)
The cheap and convenient municipal bus is a reliable way to get around.

*Rental bicycles would have been ideal, but they were already sold out on the day...reservations are recommended!

[Things to note]

●It gets very crowded during the Setouchi Triennale (Setouchi Art Festival)
The ferries and museums are very crowded. Plan your trip early to be safe!

●There are many slopes, so wear comfortable shoes.
●It's a good idea to check the closing days of cafes and art facilities in advance.

Naoshima, the island of art, is a unique place where nature, architecture, and contemporary art come together.

I enjoyed it enough in one day, but next time I'd like to stay overnight and explore the area thoroughly...!
