[Naoshima] Benesse House Museum: A museum where you can stay overnight and experience contemporary art

🎨Benesse House Museum

With the theme of "coexistence of nature, architecture, and art," this is a landmark of Naoshima, standing on a hill overlooking the Seto Inland Sea.

The architecture was designed by Tadao Ando, and works by world-famous contemporary artists such as Yayoi Kusama, Hiroshi Sugimoto, and Richard Long are displayed throughout the building, and you can experience a unique space as a "museum where you can stay overnight" not only inside the building but also in the corridors, stairs, terrace, and outdoors.

The exhibits are not just for viewing, but are experienced in the relationship with the architectural structure, light, wind, and nature. In particular, there are huge installations with the sea as a backdrop, and works arranged in quiet spaces.

There is also an area exclusive to guests, so I would definitely like to stay there next time!
You will have to walk up a gentle slope from the bicycle parking area, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes such as sneakers 👟
