🚆 Getting There To reach Shif

🚆 Getting There
To reach Shifen Waterfall, we booked the package from Trip.com (one day tour). All of us you gather at Taipei Station to board to bus for our tour. From there, it’s about a 40-50 minute to reach the destination.

📐 Size & Structure
The falls drop about 20 meters and span about 40 meters in width, making Shifen the widest waterfall in Taiwan. It has a horseshoe-curved drop and powerful flow, creating mist, echoing water sounds, and sometimes rainbows in the spray.

👣 Walking & Viewing
Around the waterfall there are multiple viewing platforms from both high elevation and close up, including suspension bridges like the Siguangtan and Guanpu Bridges. Paths are well-marked, and there are gentle walks along the river trail.

🕒 Opening Hours & Entry
Summer (June-September): roughly 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, last entry about 5:30 PM
Rest of the Year (October-May): about 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, last entry around 4:30 PM
Admission is free.

🌿 Best Times & Tips
Early morning is better to beat crowds.
Rainy season brings more volume of water, which makes the falls more dramatic—and mistier (good for photo rainbows).
Wear good walking shoes—the trail includes steps, some slopes, and suspension bridges.

🍜 Nearby Attractions & Extras
Shifen Old Street: a charming old town right next to the train line, with shops, street food, and sky-lantern sellers.
Lantern releasing is a popular activity in Shifen (though with concerns about environmental impact).
Small eateries/stalls nearby where you can try local Taiwanese snacks.
