[Hokkaido] Noboribetsu Jigokudani

This is the remains of an explosion crater created by the eruption of Kuttara Volcano. It has a diameter of about 450m and an area of about 11ha, with many springs and fumaroles.

Here is a hot spring with a variety of spring qualities, and 10,000 tons of hot spring water gushes out every day, supplying the inns and hotels in Noboribetsu Onsen Town. It is said that the name "Hell Valley" comes from the fact that the bubbling and boiling water looks like "Hell where demons live." It is a spot that is widely loved by Hokkaido residents and has been selected as a "Hokkaido Heritage," which selects Hokkaido's assets that should be passed on to the next generation.
