The final stop on my Oita trip was Nyoirinji Temple, commonly known as the "Frog Temple" in Ogori City, Fukuoka Prefecture. 🐸
After touring the hot springs of Yufuin and Beppu, this temple offers a slightly mysterious and heartwarming experience.
Upon entering the temple grounds, I was greeted by rows of frog figurines. There are said to be over 5,000 of them, and being surrounded by these uniquely-expressed frogs naturally brings a smile to my face. Based on the pun, the temple is said to bring blessings such as "safe return" and "return of money," making it the perfect place to pray for a safe journey. ✨
You can also enjoy the scenery throughout the seasons, especially during the summer "Wind Chime Festival," where the cool sounds of the wind chimes reverberate throughout the temple grounds, creating a mystical atmosphere. After enjoying Oita's nature and hot springs, a final visit to this playful temple further enhanced the lingering memories of my trip.
