Neon-lit taste adventure ✨ 24 hours of food and human touch in Dotonbori, Osaka

#Osaka Itinerary

⏰10:00 Namba Station Exit 14
As the crowd poured out of the subway station, we were greeted by a huge Glico Runner sign 🏃♂️ The neon signs on both sides of the Dotonbori River flickered in the morning light. Although they were not lit yet, the lively atmosphere was already overwhelming. The shock in front of me! The whole street is like a huge amusement park, and every sign is waving at you.

⏰11:30 Kani Doraku Main Store
Under the huge crab sign, the chef skillfully handles the fresh snow crab. I ordered a lunch special crab set meal. From sashimi to tempura, every bite is the freshness of the ocean. The interior decoration of the store retains the style of the Showa era, and the old photos on the wall tell how this store grew from a small store to a landmark of Dotonbori.

⏰13:30 Hozenji Yokocho
Turning a corner, the noisy street suddenly became quiet. The stone road is dotted with moss, and on both sides are quaint taverns. In front of the statue of Acalanatha, devout believers are splashing water to pray for blessings. Time here seems to have stopped in the Showa era, and even the air is filled with the aroma of grilled skewers.

⏰15:00 Glico runners sign
Standing on the Rong Bridge, watching the 6th generation runners signboard shining in the sun 📸 Surrounded by tourists taking photos, everyone wants to find the best angle. An enthusiastic Japanese uncle took the initiative to help me take pictures and taught me to strike the same posture as the runners, which made everyone around us laugh.

⏰17:30 Original skewers Kazudaro
After waiting in line for half an hour, I finally got to this old shop founded in 1929. The golden and crispy fried skewers served with special sauce make people unable to stop eating. The rules in the store are very interesting: you can only dip the food in the sauce once, which is not only for hygiene but also a sign of confidence in the freshness of the ingredients.

⏰19:00 Dotonbori River Cruise
As night fell, neon lights lit up the entire street, and we boarded a sightseeing boat. The captain's humorous Japanese-English commentary made everyone on the boat laugh. The signs on both sides of the river were reflected on the river, like an overturned color palette. When passing by the Glico sign, all the passengers on the ship raised their cameras at the same time, and the sound of shutter clicks rang out one after another.

When the cruise ship docked, I stood on the bridge and looked at the endless stream of people, and suddenly I understood why Osaka is called "the kitchen of the world". There are not only mouth-watering delicacies here, but also warm and hospitable people. The food experiences shared with strangers while waiting in line, the heartwarming moments of helping each other while taking photos, and the persistence and enthusiasm passed down from generation to generation by store owners all make this city full of unique charm. Dotonbori is not only a food street, but also a place where people can feel the heat of life❤️
