I recently had an amazing trip around Mt. Fuji, staying at Hotel KAN-RAKU Mt. Fuji Gotemba. This hotel is a perfect base for exploring the beautiful area around Mt. Fuji with great views, comfortable rooms, and relaxing hot springs.
Hotel KAN-RAKU Mt. Fuji Gotemba
The hotel is located in Gotemba city, close to many tourist spots. The rooms are clean and decorated in a nice mix of traditional Japanese style and modern comfort. One of the best parts is the onsen (hot spring) where you can relax after a day of walking or hiking. Waking up and seeing Mt. Fuji right outside your window is truly a special experience.
Exploring the Lakes Around Mt. Fuji
1. Lake Yamanaka (Yamanakako)
This is the largest of the five lakes near Mt. Fuji. The water is very clear and calm. I rented a swan boat to paddle around the lake, which was peaceful and fun. There are also many small cafes nearby where you can enjoy local snacks and drinks while enjoying the view.
2. Oshino Hakkai Village
This small village is famous for its eight crystal-clear ponds fed by Mt. Fuji’s melted snow. The water is very clean and fresh. Walking through the village feels like stepping back in time, with traditional thatched-roof houses and cute shops selling souvenirs and local food.
3. Lake Kawaguchiko (Kawaguchi)
Lake Kawaguchiko is the most popular lake for visitors. I walked along the lake shore and rented a bicycle to explore the area more easily. The fresh air and stunning views of Mt. Fuji reflecting on the water make this place unforgettable. In the evening, the lakeside lights create a cozy atmosphere perfect for dinner.
4. Lake Hakkai
A smaller and quieter lake, perfect for a relaxing stroll and taking photos. It’s less crowded, so you can enjoy some peaceful nature time here.
Tips for Your Trip
• Wear comfortable shoes for walking around the lakes and village.
• Rent a bicycle at Kawaguchiko to see more in less time.
• Bring a warm jacket, especially for evenings, as it gets cold near the mountain.
• Try the local specialty “Hoto” noodles at Kawaguchiko – it’s delicious and warming.
• Book your stay at Hotel KAN-RAKU early, especially during busy seasons, to secure a room.
Overall, this trip was a wonderful way to enjoy nature, local culture, and relax near one of Japan’s most famous landmarks. I highly recommend staying at Hotel KAN-RAKU Mt. Fuji Gotemba to get the best experience around Mt. Fuji.
