【Pattaya】Pupen Seafood

Pupen Seafood is located in the Jomtien Beach area of Pattaya, a distance from the city center. We arrived around 11 AM on a weekend and didn't have to wait for a table. The restaurant is large, with plenty of seating. It's an open-air restaurant with no air conditioning. The menu is extensive, available in both Thai and English, with photos. It features a wide variety of seafood and cooking methods. The prices were a bit pricey. We originally wanted to order grilled shrimp, but half a pound of shrimp, about 5-6, cost over 500 baht.

We ordered spicy and sour fish, crab curry, and Thai fried shrimp cakes. The spicy and sour fish, perhaps due to a misunderstanding, was crispy fried fish drizzled with a ketchup-flavored sauce. The fish itself was fresh and delicious, but the ketchup didn't quite add up. The crab curry was the best dish. The Thai fried shrimp cakes, supposedly a signature dish, were surprisingly unpalatable at first bite. The shrimp cakes are made by wrapping many small shrimp together and frying them. They're very crispy and incredibly greasy, with a greasy flavor that permeates your mouth.
