Wat Mahathat, Ayutthaya

#summervacay If you're in Ayutthaya, you have to swing by Wat Mahathat, it’s like the poster child of the ancient city. Yeah, it’s famous for the Buddha head in the tree roots (super iconic, totally Instagram-worthy), but the whole place has this calm, ancient energy that’s hard to explain.
You’ll be wandering through crumbling brick towers, old chedis, and rows of headless Buddha statues that give off major historical mystery feels. It’s quiet, a little eerie in the best way, and just really cool to explore. You don’t need a guide, just go at your own pace and take it all in.
It’s also one of the easier temples to explore, flat ground, not too spread out, and shaded in some spots. Perfect for a slow stroll, some deep thinking, or let’s be real, just pretending you’re in an ancient adventure movie.
Definitely one of Ayutthaya’s top spots. Peaceful, powerful, and packed with old-school charm. You’ll leave feeling a little more zen (and probably a little sweaty).
