The Qingcheng Mountain Scenic Area is divided into the Front Mountain and the Back Mountain. The Front Mountain is more suitable for sightseeing, while the Back Mountain is more suitable for hikers who want to explore deeper.
We took the Front Mountain route, driving to the parking lot, then finding the ticket office (¥80) and purchasing a sightseeing bus (¥20). We entered the mountain gate and went up to Yuecheng Lake, where there's a ferry (extra charge). We then took the cable car up the mountain (¥60 round trip) to Wuzhen Pavilion. It was a 20-minute walk to Shangqing Palace, and another 30 minutes to the highest point, Laojun Pavilion. We then returned the same way. The path was both steep and gentle, and with the light rain that day, it was a bit tiring. The Front Mountain Scenic Area offers a completely pedestrian route up and down the mountain for visitors to choose from.
