Rebun Island is a peaceful flower island in Hokkaido, Japan. it is perfect for families to enjoy nature and hikes!
The Momoiwa Observatory Course is one of the most beautiful and popular hiking trails on Rebun Island, Hokkaido. It's named after Momoiwa (Peach Rock), a large, peach-shaped rock that stands out against the island’s lush green hills. This trail is perfect for families who enjoy walking, nature, and stunning coastal views.
The hike starts near the ferry terminal in Kafuka, making it easy to access even for first-time visitors like us! The full trail is about 4 kilometers and takes 1.5 to 2 hours to complete at a relaxed pace. It’s not too steep, so it’s suitable for older kids or younger children who enjoy walking and exploring.
What makes this hike extra special is the incredible variety of wildflowers. From June to August, the trail comes alive with colorful blossoms—many of which only grow on Rebun Island. we enjoyed spotting flowers, butterflies, and even birds along the way.
