I visited Hokkaido Shrine early in the morning. The air was crisp and clear. As I walked along the path leading to the shrine, trees stood densely on both sides, and sunlight filtered through the branches, scattering dots of light on the ground. There were hardly any people around, and the sound of my footsteps echoed softly on the gravel.
I paused in front of the main hall. The faint scent of incense lingered in the air, and a gentle breeze brushed against my face. I found myself taking a deep breath for no particular reason. Without saying a word, my heart felt a little lighter.
On my way out, I stopped to look at the ema plaques and the charm shop. The mix of the wooden scent and the incense aroma blended perfectly with the morning sunlight. It was such a neat and serene scene.
The morning at Hokkaido Shrine wasn’t bustling. It simply felt like a quiet way to start the day.
