Bukchon (literally "north village") is a traditional residential area nestled between Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung Palaces in Jongno-gu, Seoul .
It's home to approximately 900–1,500 hanok houses, built mostly in the late 19th and early 20th centuries—once inhabited by aristocrats and government officials, now repurposed as guesthouses, cafés, workshops, and craft museums .
