The origin of Yeongyeongdang🌿

#SeptemberTravelSupport

Crown Prince Hyomyeong built Yeongyeongdang in 1828 to perform Jinjakrye for his father, King Sunjo. Its original appearance was quite different from what it is today. 🔮

Jinjakrye was a ceremony where officials offered wine and food to the king and queen, and Crown Prince Hyomyeong used it as a way to strengthen royal authority. 🍁

The current Yeongyeongdang was rebuilt by King Gojong in 1865. Modeled after the layout of a nobleman's residence, it centered around the king's sarangchae (men's quarters) and the queen's anchae (women's quarters). 🦋

The Seonhyangjae (a study hall) features Chinese-style walls and a Western-style awning. Nongsujeong, located on a high ridge in the backyard, has a sleek appearance resembling a falcon spreading its wings. 🌳
