🪷 Jogyesa Temple — A Peaceful Sanctuary in the Heart of Seoul

Right in the middle of busy downtown Seoul, Jogyesa Temple offers a quiet space filled with calm and light. It’s the head temple of Korean Zen Buddhism (Jogye Order) and one of the most important spiritual centers in the country.

As soon as you step inside, the city noise fades away. Colorful lanterns sway gently above the courtyard, especially during Buddha’s Birthday, when the entire temple glows like a sea of light. The towering Bodhi tree, believed to be over 500 years old, adds to the sense of timeless peace.

Inside the main hall, you’ll find three golden Buddha statues representing past, present, and future — a beautiful reminder of mindfulness and balance. Locals and travelers alike come here to meditate, light incense, or simply rest in silence for a few moments.

It’s amazing how a place of such serenity can exist right next to Seoul’s modern skyscrapers — a perfect symbol of harmony between tradition and the present.

📍 Location: Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea
🕘 Opening Hours: 5:00 AM – 9:00 PM
🎟️ Tip: Visit early in the morning or at sunset for a more peaceful experience, and don’t miss the lantern festival in May — it’s truly magical.
