The Golden Triad in Daeungjeon
Stepping inside the Daeungjeon Hall at Jogyesa is a truly humbling experience. The sheer size and radiance of the three main golden Buddha statues—Amitabha, Shakyamuni, and Bhaisaiya—are truly magnificent and left me speechless. These figures are much larger than I expected, instantly drawing your gaze and filling the enormous hall with spiritual gravity. The atmosphere inside is palpable, filled with the soft sounds of prayer and the comforting scent of incense. Even if you aren't Buddhist, observing the devoted worshippers and feeling the depth of their reverence is moving. The detail in the murals and the wooden lattice carvings, especially on the main hall's doors, speaks volumes about the craftsmanship of the late Joseon dynasty era. It’s an unforgettable sight that feels worlds away from the city just outside.
