Habitats focuses on the iconic image in Smith's paintings - the broom, which not only symbolizes her other self, but also is the visual representation she chooses. She uses the female image as a carrier of expression to reflect on the myth of male-dominated art.

The artist’s unique feminist aesthetic is formed by whimsical images, compositions inspired by famous paintings, and signature layered coloring techniques.
