If you live in Shanghai and looking for a place with fewer people on weekends, I recommend this nice and cozy ancient town in the Qungpu district.
Yes, it's hard to get there if you don't have a car (you can rent it or come by taxi). But if you manage to get there, you will enjoy being there.
The old houses and tiny streets give you a historical vibe. The local restaurants run by local people, with the price you can't find in Shanghai. And it tastes like homemade food.
I've spotted a nice tea house there so next time I'll come there in cooler weather to enjoy the tea.
