The Portman Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai: An experience beyond imagination
Before planning to stay at The Portman Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai, I saw many negative reviews in the guides, and I was full of doubts. But when I really spent two days on the weekend here, the experience was completely beyond expectations.
The hotel is located in the core area of Jing'an Temple, full of a sense of age, but also unique charm. The surrounding area is convenient for travel, surrounded by restaurants and shopping malls, and it is very pleasant to take a walk and enjoy the scenery at night.
On the first day of check-in, the hotel arranged an executive business king room and thoughtfully sent welcome desserts and wine. Although the first room had a musty smell, after giving feedback to the front desk, the problem was quickly resolved. The front desk manager and the young lady were enthusiastic and thoughtful, and they took the initiative to upgrade me to a suite the next day.
The suite is about 80 square meters, and the space is spacious. The sofa by the window is comfortable, the double washbasin is practical, the bathroom is spacious, the Diptyque toiletries are of high quality, the slippers are soft, and the bed is wide and comfortable. Although the room has a sense of age, it is clean and tidy, the turndown service is thoughtful, and the bedside is equipped with a conversion plug, making it comfortable and quiet to live in.
The hotel offers a wide variety of food and beverages. Weekend breakfast ends at 11:00, with local specialties such as xiaolongbao and fried dumplings, as well as ice cream. The lasagna for dinner and the cocktails at the lobby bar are all memorable.
In terms of hotel facilities, there are indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and the gym is not large but fully equipped, and wired headphones are also provided. The gym is very popular, and there are many guests exercising at different times.
During breakfast, it is recommended to go before 9:40, as there are fewer people and the environment is good. The orange juice is delicious, the blueberries are sweet, and the overall breakfast can score 80 points.
The hotel service is first-class, the lobby staff is sufficient, and the enthusiasm is high. The young lady at the front desk is fluent in English. Although the decoration style is slightly retro, it is very popular and has a high occupancy rate. The surrounding facilities are mature, close to many popular business districts, convenient transportation, and many delicacies. If the price is right, it is definitely worth staying again.
