Jing’an Temple: A Spiritual and Relaxing Visit in Shanghai

Jing’an Temple (静安寺), located on Nanjing West Road, is a sacred site that perfectly blends Shanghai’s ancient heritage with modernity. Open daily from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, the regular entrance fee is 50 yuan (children under 120 cm enter for free).

Originally built in 247 AD, the temple was relocated to its current site during the Song Dynasty. Today, it has been restored into a stunning Song-style wooden structure adorned with intricate gold decorations. Highlights include the Mahavira Hall, the golden Jing’an Pagoda, a 15-ton silver Buddha statue, a jade Buddha, and a massive bronze bell housed in the Bell Tower.

For those seeking spiritual blessings, visitors often light incense while stating their name, birthdate, home address, and wishes, then bow three times while turning in a circle. Alternatively, you can toss coins into the "Fortune & Wisdom Cauldron" for additional blessings.

📸 Photography Tips:
• Capture upward angles to showcase the carved wooden roofs and temple halls.
• Visit during early morning or evening for optimal lighting. Conveniently accessible via Metro Line 2/7, Jing’an Temple Station, Exit 1.
