If you plan to travel to Shangri-La in winter, make sure go check out this grand activity at Songzanlin Lamasery for celebrating the Gedong Festival!

Every year on the 29th day of the 11th month of the Tibetan calendar, local residents from Shanghai-La are gathering at the Songzanlin Lamasery to celebrate bumper harvests and pray for receiving a blessing in the next year. All the local Tibetans will wear the traditional and colorful clothes to watch the religious Cham dances.

We went there one day earlier, and could only see the rehearsal, but it was already amazing and fascinating enough!
