A must-visit scenic spot: The breathtaking Sandanbeki Cliffs

Every time you long to see the ocean, do you only think of walking along the seaside? Want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and gaze at the vast blue sea? Then you must visit Sandanbeki in Shirahama. 🏜️

Sandanbeki is part of the Yoshino-Kumano National Park in Japan and has been designated as a scenic spot of national significance. The cliffs are 50 meters high and stretch approximately 2 kilometers long. The sight of giant waves crashing against the rocks is truly awe-inspiring! You can take an elevator down to the caves, where you'll feel as if the roaring waves are within arm's reach. Besides enjoying the stunning sea views from above, the Sandanbeki Visitor Center offers a paid ticket option to explore the lower levels of the cliffs. 🗺️

Sandanbeki is usually part of a trip to Shirahama, often starting from Osaka. If you're traveling extensively within the Kansai region, it's highly recommended to purchase the JR Kansai Wide Area 5-Day Pass, which costs around 600 RMB. This pass allows unlimited rides on JR trains, including both unreserved and reserved seats, making it a great value. 🚅

I traveled from Wakayama on the Kuroshio Limited Express. Note that you need to reserve a seat in advance for this train; otherwise, you might end up standing the entire journey! 💖
