Angkor Wat – Cambodia's Timeless Wonder

Instead of the usual sunrise crowd, I decided to visit Angkor Wat in the afternoon – and honestly, I didn’t regret it. The temple grounds were less packed, and the golden hour light added a soft, mysterious glow to the ancient stones. ✨

Built in the 12th century, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the largest religious monuments in the world – and every wall, tower and corridor tells a story. From intricate carvings of celestial dancers to massive lotus-shaped towers, the artistry is breathtaking.

☀️ Yes, it was hot walking around in the midday heat (Cambodia’s sun doesn’t play), but with an iced drink in hand and a hat for shade, it was very manageable. I took my time soaking in the atmosphere, with fewer tour groups to dodge.

📌 Tips for Afternoon Visits:

- Bring lots of water & wear sun protection
- Use an umbrella or hat – there’s not much shade
- Avoid climbing the steep central tower if you’re scared of heights
