🇸🇬🇹🇭Genting Dream Cruise: Half-Day Phuket Excursion

Our ship docked at 4 p.m. (Singapore time) and departed before 1 a.m. How do you make the most of such a short stay? You can either join a tour group or explore freely. This time, we chose a DIY trip—let me share our experience!

🚢 About Disembarkation

The port is Deep Sea Port, located in southeast Phuket. If you want to get off early, be at the Star Dining Room on Deck 7 (aft) by 3:30 p.m. Staff will assign seating in order, and if the dining room is full, you’ll need to wait in line outside. Disembarkation starts around 4 p.m. Just bring your room card (no passport needed) and take the stairs down to the lower deck. If you’re using a stroller or wheelchair, remember to notify the crew in advance.

🍲 Phuket Old Town
Our first stop was Suriyadej Circle. You can follow our route (see Map 88) instead of going straight into the core old town. The colorful old buildings are perfect for photos! There are plenty of cafés and small eateries. We had Thai street food for dinner—very authentic. Highly recommend the mango sticky rice, they gave us a very generous portion! (Address is in the comments.) If you’re looking for massages, there are many choices here at reasonable prices.

🛍️ Central Phuket
This is the largest mall in Phuket, divided into Floresta (new wing) and Festival (old wing). The new wing has more high-end stores, while the old wing has more popular brands. We bought souvenirs like dried fruit and mango snacks at very fair prices.

🌙 Chillva Night Market
One of the highlights of this trip! The market is big, with a wide variety of stalls—almost no repeats. There’s even a live house with great vibes. The food was mostly affordable and tasty.

⚠️ Return Reminder
We suggest leaving the night market no later than midnight and taking a taxi back to Deep Sea Port (about 30 minutes). You can also ask the driver to drop you off right at the terminal. There’s a small night market at the port too, but with fewer options—better for snapping photos of the cruise ship at night.
🚫 Remember: No alcohol (wine, spirits, beer) is allowed when boarding.
