Where to stay in Surabaya, Indonesia? These four Marriott hotels make eating, drinking, and entertainment super convenient!

Surabaya, as Indonesia's second-largest city, is often used by most people as a transit or stopover point for visiting Mount Bromo and Mount Ijen. In fact, Surabaya is worth staying a few days to explore, with plenty of good food, drinks, and entertainment! Especially don’t miss the Surabaya Zoo, where the entrance ticket costs only seven yuan RMB. This is probably one of the cheapest zoos I’ve ever been to! For seven yuan, you can see lions, tigers, elephants, hippos, proboscis monkeys, orangutans, giraffes... and of course, dozens of Komodo dragons! Surabaya is also called Surabaya in Javanese—Sura means shark, and Baya means crocodile. At the entrance of Surabaya Zoo, there is a vivid sculpture of a shark and a crocodile fighting and entwined!

Whether you plan to stay in Surabaya for a few days for an in-depth trip or just a short one- or two-day stopover, finding a clean, tidy, and comfortable hotel is very important. This time, my mom and I stayed at four Marriott hotels in Surabaya, and they felt great, so I’m sharing them here.

The Surabaya Westin Hotel and Surabaya Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in the new city area Pakuwon Mall are two integrated hotels located in the same building—the Westin is on the upper floors, and Four Points is on the lower floors. Both hotel lobbies connect directly to the mall, which is very convenient! This mall is the largest in Indonesia, offering everything for eating, drinking, and entertainment, including a 24-hour Haidilao hotpot.

Located in the old city center, Tunjungan Plaza Shopping Center is Surabaya’s most upscale mall, with a full range of luxury brands and big names. The shopping center also houses two hotels: the newly renovated Surabaya Sheraton Hotel and the Surabaya Four Points by Sheraton Hotel - Tunjungan Plaza, which features rooms equipped with PS5. Both have very convenient locations, making it easy to get anywhere!
