Cloudy Compassion on the Mountain: A Visit to Ling Mountain's Mother Temple

"Compassion on the Cloud Ridge: A Visit to the Lingshan Cimu Hall"

Amidst the mist and rain, the car slowly drove into Lishan. The air was moist and cool, and amidst the looming mountain scenery, a yellow archway with red inscriptions evoked the words: "Founded by the Old Mother of Lishan."

This temple, Lingshan Cimu Hall, sits quietly amid the cool greenery of the high mountains. It is neither noisy nor ostentatious, like the climate of Lishan: reserved, gentle, yet profoundly powerful. Unlike the bustling city temples, it possesses a profound sense of self-preservation, a sense of the heavens and earth resonating in harmony.

I disembarked and, holding an umbrella, walked along the slippery stone path. The raindrops pattered the ground like the whisper of a mother's voice. Entering the hall, I saw the Old Mother's simple and unadorned sanctuary, yet shimmering with a faint golden glow and curling with incense, as if silently protecting this mountain for years.

"Lishan Laomu," also known as the Compassionate Mother of Lingshan, is a Taoist deity known as the Earth Mother, responsible for the earth's destiny, the nurturing of all things, and the care of all spirits. This may be her physical home on earth, a place for respite and awakening.

I offer this incense stick, not seeking wealth or fame, but only a hope for an upright mind and body, and unwavering Taoism.
I bow silently three times, not seeking fame, but simply hoping that my cultivation on earth will be remembered in heaven.
