Lishan Jesus Church (Taiwan's highest church), built by former President Chiang Kai-shek

Lishan Jesus Church, located next to the Lishan Hotel in Heping District, Taichung City, is one of the "Three Great Churches in Taiwan" built by former President Chiang Kai-shek. Originally built to accommodate religious services for dignitaries and guests visiting Lishan at the time, its exterior, with its distinct Western style, stands out among the towering peaks.

Over the years, Lishan Jesus Church has ceased to be a dedicated church for receptions. It is now under the care of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan and continues to operate as a spiritual center for local residents and tourists.

Designated a Class III historical monument (historical building) by the Taichung City Government, the church not only symbolizes the unique historical development of the Lishan area but also bears witness to the introduction of Taiwanese alpine culture and religion.

Entering the church today, one can still feel its solemn and tranquil atmosphere. Sunlight filtering through the window lattices onto the wooden pews whispers the intertwined history of political and economic leaders and local communities. This mountain church, standing at an altitude of 2,000 meters, is not only a place of faith, but also an important mark of Lishan's cultural landscape.
