Tainan-Shuijiaoshe Cultural Park, the old house of the former air force village dormitory

#100 Ways to Travel

#Shuijiaoshe Cultural Park was once a Japanese-style dormitory complex in the Air Force’s military village. When I was serving in the Sports Road Maritime Patrol Team in my early years, I went to Shuijiaoshe many times to buy sesame seed cakes and soy milk, and I was deeply impressed. The noodles in the military dependents’ villages have always been great. Although the water trade shops at that time were messy and dilapidated, they were full of human touch.

Later, when Shuijiaoshe was reorganized, most of the old houses were demolished, and only a few larger old houses for officers were retained and rebuilt, which became exhibition halls or restaurants in the park today. Air Force F-5E fighter jets were also placed there to evoke people's memories of #AirForceZhikaiNewVillage.

Tickets are required to visit the exhibition halls in the Shuijiaoshe Cultural Park. The ticket price is $100, and Tainan residents can enjoy half price. The park is divided into eight exhibition halls: Shuijiao Society History Hall, AIR Tainan Hall, Military Village Theme Hall, Shuijiao Society Performance Hall, Flying Parent-Child Hall, Art Special Exhibition Hall, Literary Salon Hall and Military Village Canteen #相聚场.

If I remember correctly, the Military Dependents' Village Theme Museum has been changed to the free #Bixu Bookstore, and the Literary Salon Museum has become the #LaoZhangChuanmenTeahouse. These two venues are the most popular and are well worth visiting or having tea and a meal.

The park next to the Shuijiaoshe Park is the Border Town Art Studio & Coffee Shop, as well as the newly tidied small hill #桂子山, which is considered the highest point in the southern area. You can overlook the Shuijiaoshe New Village, Sports Park, and the soldiers doing drills in the barracks next to it.
