Hayashi Department Store

Hayashi Department Store, an old department store, was built in 1932 during the Japanese occupation of Taiwan. It was very modern at that time. There was an elevator up and down the building. The department store was badly damaged by the American bombing during World War II and was abandoned for a long time until it underwent a major renovation in 2014 and has been operating brilliantly to this day. Inside, there are many interesting products, including souvenirs, handicrafts, and various products. The products are quite expensive. On the upper floor, there is a cafe and a Japanese-style shrine, which were originally for the staff to worship, but are now open to outsiders.
I recommend it. This old department store is beautiful and has a vintage feel. The products are fun to look at. Even if you don't buy anything, you will still have fun looking at them. If you come to Tainan, you should come and walk around this department store at least once.
