Tainan Anping Tree House

An hour by bullet train from Taipei, near the marshland on the coast of Tainan, is the former site of a Japanese trading company warehouse called Anping Tree House.

The road has been encroached upon by many banyan trees, and it is rumored that this is the place that inspired the idea for the castle in the sky in the anime Laputa.

Admission is NT$50, and there is a historical museum and a cafe on site.

There is a lively food stall street nearby.
