A "mountain castle in the sky" floating in a sea of ​​clouds
BicchuMatsuyama Castle, built near the summit of Mt. Gagyu at an altitude of 430m, is the only mountain castle in Japan with a castle tower still standing.
It is one of 12 castles still standing, and the castle ruins have been designated as a national historic site, and parts of the castle tower, two-story turret, and earthen walls, which were renovated during the Edo period, have been designated as important cultural properties by the nation.
