Lake Tekapo on New Zealand's South Island.
At night, the dense Milky Way, which is typical of one of the world's leading starry sky sanctuaries, begins to cover the sky above the Church of the Good Shepherd, and you can see a scene that looks like stars are falling.
It was my dream to see this with my own eyes 🥹
During the day, it's a spectacular spot where the blue of the sky and the blue of the lake blend together!
The contrast between the snow-capped mountains and the turquoise lake is truly beautiful ✨
[How to get there]
- Nearest city: About 3 hours by car from Christchurch
I took the public bus (InterCity)
[Recommended time of day]
- Daytime: Around 10am-3pm is the best time for the light to shine through (enjoy the blue lake)
- Night: The best time is after 11pm on a night close to the new moon (to see the Milky Way)
I definitely want you to see the Milky Way, so I recommend staying for two nights ✨
