Rushing from Lhasa to the foot of Everest, I experienced 108 hairpin turns that made me doubt life, got my face fogged by clouds at the Gyala Pass, and got hit on the head by hail at the base camp… yet the journey was still thrilling and full of passion!
📍A tear-jerking experience in detail: ❶ Everest 108 Hairpin Turns——
Altitude soaring + curve attacks! Motion sickness pills are a lifesaver, but every turn brought a visual shock of snowy mountains that made me shout “Worth it!” while breathing oxygen. (Friendly reminder: Drivers, please slow down 😇)
❷ Gyala Pass in stealth mode 🥹
Standing on the viewing platform but waiting in vain for the 8,000-meter snow mountain team to appear… only able to wildly imagine against the white clouds 😂 But! The prayer flags roaring in the 4,700-meter wind seemed to touch me more than the snow mountains~
❸ Everest Base Camp’s hail-exclusive experience
At 5,200 meters altitude, the weather changes in an instant! One moment it’s clear skies, the next moment hail is pelting down on our heads… a group of us screaming and looking for stones to shelter, but ended up laughing like fools—this must be Everest’s “hardcore souvenir”❄️
❹ National Highway 318 5000km milestone——full of ceremony!
Finally saw the legendary 5000km checkpoint! 🚗💨
Although the milestone was covered in graffiti (too much drawing haha), the moment I raised my phone, I suddenly understood what “a must-drive in a lifetime” means—
✨All the unseen scenery is filled with stories:
A cup of sweet tea handed by Tibetan Aja, an oxygen bottle given by a fellow traveler during altitude sickness, strangers taking photos of each other in front of the 5000km milestone…
🌟Practical tips:
✔️Border pass! Get it done in Lhasa in advance!
✔️Motion sickness pills + oxygen bottle + down jacket = the three life-saving essentials for the plateau
✔️Keep a calm mindset: bad weather is normal, but the experience is always unique
——
“If the mountain won’t come to me, I’ll go to the mountain.”
Everest, leaving some regrets makes the next meeting more romantic ❤️🔥
